Butterflies & Poppies

Today's challenge at the Sisterhood of Crafters is hosted by Anna. Her theme is "Dies". Create a project using dies as your focus.

I have used 2 dies that I just purchased recently. The background is "Butterfly" by Spellbinders Impressabilities and the flowers are from Spellbinders "Asters & Poppies" die set.
The background paper is from DCWV and adhered to a base of white card stock.
Next I cut the "Butterfly" Impressabilities die from white card stock and used white glue to adhere to the background. I cut the "Poppies" die twice from SU "Sage Green" card stock and glued them to the front of the card. The sentiment was stamped with Fun Stampers Journey "Limeade Splash" ink on a strip of white card stock, then adhered to a strip of sage green card stock to the top of the card. It is hard to tell from the picture, but the white satin ribbon has little white embroidered flowers. The bow was attached with a glue dot.

If you would like to join a fun challenge, head on over to the Sisterhood and check out the inspiration projects from the sistah's, then enter the challenge with your creation. You may enter 3 projects.

The challenge ends 8pm, Sunday October 1st. Have a great day!

Happy Birthday, Jedi!

Our new challenge begins today over at the Sisterhood of Crafters, with Agata as our hostess. The theme for this challenge is "Oh, Boy! What Next?".

My grandson just turned 7 and is infatuated with Star Wars and says that it is his favorite movie even though he has never seen it. I suspect the advertising of the new movie and merchandise has spurred him on.

With that in mind I created this birthday card for him using clip art found on the internet.
I started with a base of white card stock. The light gray card stock was embossed with the Cuttlebug "Birthday" folder, then adhered to the base. I created the sentiment on my computer, printed it out and layered it onto a strip of black card stock. After fussy cutting around Yoda, I used pop dots to give him dimension.

The inside of the card reads "Celebrate you must. Wishing you a birthday out of this galaxy". This card will go perfectly with the rebel trooper we are giving him as a gift.

Okay, time to you to head over the Sisterhood for more inspiration from my 'sistahs'. You have until 8pm Sunday, September 24th to enter. Limit of 3 entries per person.

Hope to see you there.

Simple Hello

A new challenge begins today at the Stinkin' Inkers and the theme is:

"Color Wheel"

Create a card, scrapbook page, 3D project, etc. using your favorite color combination.

For my project, I cased a card by found in a video by Connie Stewart. I changed to the colors to one of my favorite combos of pink and gray. I also embossed the card front instead of the banner.
I used SU's "Pink Piroutte" card stock for the base and embossed with Anna Griffin's "Fluted Damask" embossing folder. I added a gray banner (Michael's Recollections card stock). The flower is also from Michael's Recollections products, adhered to the banner with pop dots. The leaf stems were created with a Memory Box die. Using my Nestibilities Labels One smallest die, I created the cut out on the card front. The gray center was created by using the same die on gray card stock and inserting it on the inside of the card. The sentiment is from SU's Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set, stamped onto Pink Pirouette card stock, punched out with my SU Petite Curly Label punch and adhered to the center of the gray panel. The small flowers were punched from gray card stock using a Fiskars small flower punch and a clear gem for the center.

I am so happy with the way this card turned out. And can't wait to try more of Connie's tips and tricks.

Now, why not head on over to the Stinkin' Inkers to check out the Design Team's inspiration projects and enter the challenge?

Have a great day!
